Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 1.5 lbs. chicken tenders
  • 4 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika (substitute regular paprika if needed)
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp basil
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp dried thyme

Slider Assembly

  • 1 pack Kings Hawaiian slider rolls or dinner rolls
  • ¼ head iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • Dill pickle slices (enough for two per sandwich)
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Alabama White BBQ Sauce

  • 1¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp creamy horseradish
  • 2 tsp lemon juice, fresh squeezed
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste (about ½ tsp each)

Instructions

  1. Prep Sauce & Blackened Seasoning: In a medium bowl, combine all Alabama white BBQ sauce ingredients and whisk until smooth. This sauce can be prepared a few days ahead and refrigerated. Separately, mix all the blackened seasoning spices in a small bowl or zip-top bag and set aside until ready to use.
  2. Cook Chicken: Coat the chicken tenders in 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then generously rub the blackened seasoning all over both sides. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, place the chicken tenders in the skillet and cook for 3 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  3. Toast Buns & Prepare Butter Spread: Preheat your oven’s broiler. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with minced garlic and parsley. Split the slider buns and toast the undersides under the broiler until golden brown; then remove and set the bottom buns aside. Flip the top buns, spread the butter mixture evenly on the top sides, and return them to the broiler for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Evenly distribute the cooked chicken tenders on the bottom slider buns. Top each with shredded iceberg lettuce, a generous spoonful of Alabama white BBQ sauce, and dill pickle slices. Place the buttered and toasted top buns on each slider. Slice if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • The blackened seasoning can be made ahead and stored airtight for convenient future use.
  • Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • The Alabama white sauce improves in flavor if made a few hours prior and refrigerated.
  • You can substitute regular paprika if smoked paprika is unavailable, though smoked adds a richer flavor.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper levels up or down depending on your spice preference.
  • For crispier buns, watch closely under the broiler to prevent burning.
