Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 500g All-Purpose Flour
  • 200ml Warm Milk
  • 200ml Warm Water
  • ½ Packet Fresh Yeast (approximately 21g)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture: In a small bowl, crumble the fresh yeast and add the sugar along with a few tablespoons of the lukewarm water. Stir until the yeast and sugar dissolve, then let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until frothy, indicating active yeast.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture, warm milk, and remaining water. Gradually mix until a soft, cohesive dough forms. Adjust by adding more flour or water if necessary.
  3. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Bread: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to a ½-inch thickness in a large circle. Mark the center lightly with a round cutter or glass. Cut from the edge to the center mark into 16 equal segments. Twist pairs of adjacent strips outward twice and pinch the ends to form petals, creating a flower shape.
  5. Final Proofing: Place the shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet, loosely cover with a cloth, and let it proof for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Bake the Bread: Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Bake the bread for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh yeast for best results; if unavailable, instant yeast can be substituted with adjusted quantities.
  • Ensure liquids are lukewarm to properly activate yeast without killing it.
  • For a softer crust, brush the bread with melted butter after baking.
  • This bread is best consumed within 2 days or can be frozen for longer storage.
  • Adjust the number of segments and twists to customize the flower shape as desired.
