Main Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/2 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (Frank’s hot sauce recommended)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp parsley
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups broccoli (very finely chopped)
  • 1/2 lb. Gemelli pasta
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese (grated)

Instructions

  1. Note: Ensure the broccoli is very finely chopped for this recipe to ensure it cooks through.
  2. Combine the chicken broth, half and half, chicken bouillon cube, hot sauce, and seasonings in a large measuring cup with a spout and set aside.
  3. Begin boiling water for the pasta. Once boiling, salt the water.
  4. Melt the butter in a large, high-walled skillet over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add the chicken broth mixture in small splashes, stirring continuously. Add the broccoli. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  6. Cover partially while you boil the pasta to al dente. Gently stir the pasta periodically throughout cooking. Drain once cooked.
  7. Reduce heat of the sauce to low and stir in the cheese until combined.
  8. Add the pasta and stir to combine. It will continue to thicken and absorb the sauce upon standing. Serve!

Notes

  • Make sure to finely chop the broccoli for even cooking.
