For the Taco Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix (or homemade taco seasoning)
For the Dough & Cheese
- 1 tube Pillsbury Pizza Dough
- 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved (10 halves)
For the Butter Topping
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- Preheat the Oven & Prepare the Pan: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly coat a large baking sheet with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until fully browned and crumbled. Drain off any excess fat. Return the beef to the pan and stir in the taco seasoning (skip the water). Mix well until the beef is evenly coated. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Shape the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a work surface until flat. Cut the dough in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 5 strips to form a total of 10 rectangles.
- Assemble the Taco Sticks: Place about a tablespoon of the taco meat in the center of each dough rectangle. Top with half a cheese stick. Carefully roll each piece up, pinching the seams and ends closed to keep the filling inside.
- Butter & Season: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Brush this mixture evenly over the tops of the assembled taco sticks.
- Bake: Arrange the taco sticks, seam-side down, on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown on top and the cheese is melty inside.
- Serve: Serve hot, optionally with your favorite taco toppings or dipping sauces like salsa, sour cream, or guacamole.
Notes
- Let the taco meat cool before assembling to avoid making the dough soggy.
- Press the seams well to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
- Try using pepper jack, mozzarella, or your favorite cheese stick variety.
- These are also great to freeze and reheat for a quick snack.
- Pair with salsa, guacamole, or ranch for dipping.
