Delicious Chocolate Snowball Cookies that are perfect for the holiday season or any time you crave a rich, chocolaty treat. These cookies are easy to make and have a delightful snowball appearance coated with powdered sugar.

  • ¾ cup white, spelt, or oat flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans (omit for nut-free version)

Wet Ingredients:

  • ½ cup butter or coconut oil, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips or finely chopped chocolate

Optional: additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, sift together flour and cocoa powder. Stir in chopped nuts.
  3. Cream Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, cream the butter (or coconut oil) with powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Form Dough: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes until set but not dry. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  7. Roll in Sugar: While still warm, roll cookies in additional powdered sugar if desired for a snowy effect.
  8. Cool: Cool completely on a wire rack.
