Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup diced yellow onion (red onion works too)
  • 1 roma tomato (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 lime (juiced, about 2 Tablespoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or flaky sea salt (more or less to taste)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro (leaves and stems)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (finely diced)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocados: Peel the avocados and place the flesh in a medium bowl. Mash them using a fork, leaving some chunks to maintain texture.
  2. Combine the ingredients: Add the lime juice, diced onion, diced tomatoes, minced garlic, salt, chopped cilantro, and diced jalapeno to the mashed avocado. Mix gently to combine, being careful not to over-mash so the mixture remains creamy and chunky.
  3. Adjust and serve: Taste the guacamole and adjust the salt, lime juice, or cilantro as needed. Garnish with additional cilantro if desired and serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm avocados for the best texture.
  • Adjust the heat by adding more or less jalapeno, or remove the seeds for milder flavor.
  • For added flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Serve immediately to prevent browning; if storing, place plastic wrap directly on the surface and refrigerate.
