Dumplings
- 1 bag frozen dumplings of choice (20–30 pieces)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
Salad
- 1½ cups arugula
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
- 1 cucumber (thinly sliced)
- 1 cup green onions (sliced)
- ½ onion (thinly sliced)
- ¼ cup sesame seeds
Spicy Soy Dressing
- 5 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp freshly minced garlic
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp chili crisp or chili oil
- 2–3 tbsp water (to thin)
- Make the Dressing: In a medium bowl, whisk together the tamari or soy sauce, rice vinegar, freshly minced garlic, freshly grated ginger, brown sugar, and chili crisp or chili oil. Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, to reach your desired consistency, usually 2–3 tablespoons. Set the dressing aside.
- Prepare the Salad: In a large salad bowl, combine arugula, halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced cucumber, sliced green onions, and thinly sliced onion.
- Cook the Dumplings: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the frozen dumplings and pan-fry them for 3 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure they become golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Assemble the Salad: Add the crispy cooked dumplings to the salad bowl with the vegetables. Pour the prepared dressing over everything, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and gently toss to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Serve: Serve the salad immediately for optimal crispness. Optionally, drizzle additional chili oil over the top for extra heat and flavor. Enjoy your fresh and spicy Crispy Dumpling Salad!
Notes
- You can use any dumplings you prefer: pork, chicken, vegetable, or shrimp.
- To make this salad vegan, choose dumplings with vegetable fillings and use tamari instead of soy sauce to avoid gluten.
- Adjust the amount of chili crisp or chili oil to control the heat level to your taste.
- If you want crispier dumplings, make sure the pan is hot before adding them and avoid overcrowding the pan during frying.
- For a nuttier flavor, try toasting the sesame seeds lightly before sprinkling on the salad.
