4.6 from 52 reviews

This easy chicken salad wrap recipe combines tender cooked chicken breast with crunchy apples, pecans, and celery, all tossed in a creamy mayonnaise dressing with a hint of sweet relish and spices. Perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner, these wraps can be made with traditional flour tortillas or a gluten-free option using large leaf lettuce, making them versatile and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Salad

  • 6 cups cooked chicken breast, coarsely chopped
  • 1 large granny smith apple, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sweet relish
  • ¼ teaspoon celery salt
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder

For the Wrap

  • Burrito-size flour tortillas or large leaf lettuce, like Bibb or Boston (for gluten-free option)
  • 3 cups chopped romaine lettuce (optional)
  • 1 thinly sliced tomato (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Salad: In a large bowl, combine the coarsely chopped cooked chicken breast, granny smith apple, pecans, celery, sweet relish, mayonnaise, celery salt, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Add additional mayonnaise if you prefer a creamier texture.
  2. Assemble the Wrap: Lay a burrito-size flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Place a generous amount of the chicken salad mixture in the center of the tortilla. If desired, top with chopped romaine lettuce and thinly sliced tomato for added freshness and crunch.
  3. Wrap It Up: Fold two opposite ends of the tortilla toward the center over the filling. Then, tuck one of the remaining ends over the contents, adjusting as needed to keep everything secure. Finally, roll the wrap tightly toward the loose end of the tortilla, ensuring the filling stays enclosed. For a gluten-free option, use large leaf lettuce instead of a tortilla, wrapping the salad directly within the leaves.

Notes

  • Using leaf lettuce instead of tortillas makes this recipe gluten-free and adds a refreshing crunch.
  • You can add more mayonnaise or adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
  • Replace pecans with walnuts or almonds if desired for a different nutty flavor.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat mayonnaise or Greek yogurt instead.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate the chicken salad and assemble wraps just before eating to prevent sogginess.
