Ingredients

Scale

Brownies

  • Prepared brownie batter for an 8-inch pan

Frosting

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • A few drops green food coloring

Decorations

  • 12 long (rectangular) chocolate-filled cookies
  • Black decorating gel
  • 12 candy pumpkins

Instructions

  1. Bake Brownies: Line an 8-inch pan with parchment paper. Pour the prepared brownie batter evenly into the pan and bake according to the original brownie recipe instructions, typically at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan before decorating.
  2. Make Frosting: In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, softened butter, milk, and a few drops of green food coloring. Beat the mixture for 2 minutes until it becomes light, fluffy, and pale green in color, perfect for creating a grassy effect.
  3. Decorate: Once the brownies are cooled, cut them into 12 equal rectangular pieces. Using the black decorating gel, write “R.I.P.” on each of the 12 long rectangular chocolate-filled cookies to resemble tombstones. Press one decorated cookie gently into each brownie piece. Then, add a dollop of the green frosting next to the cookie to mimic grass, and place one candy pumpkin on top of the frosting to complete the graveyard look.

Notes

  • Make sure brownies are fully cooled before decorating to prevent frosting from melting.
  • If you prefer, use homemade brownies for a fresher taste.
  • Adjust green food coloring quantity for desired frosting shade.
  • Use a piping bag for more precise frosting application if desired.
  • Storage: Keep brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
