For the Stir-Fry:

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili garlic paste (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 6 cups napa cabbage (chopped (or any kind of cabbage!))
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

For Garnish:

  • minced scallions and sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Wok: Heat a large wok or sauté pan over high heat. Add sesame oil, chili garlic paste, minced garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  2. Cook the Beef: Add ground beef to the pan with salt and pepper. Break down the beef into bite-sized pieces and sauté until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Add Cabbage and Sauces: Add chopped cabbage, sugar, more salt and pepper, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and water. Stir well and sauté until the cabbage is softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Adjust Seasoning: Check for seasoning and adjust as needed before serving.

Notes

  • You can customize this stir-fry by adding other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots.
  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of chili garlic paste.
