Ingredients

Scale

Donuts

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Pinch of Nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup White granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup Milk (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream (room temperature or Greek yogurt)
  • 4 TBSP Unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract

Strawberry Glaze

  • 1/2 cup Strawberries (washed and quartered)
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 TBSP Milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two donut pans by spraying them with a non-stick baking spray to ensure easy donut removal.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and a pinch of nutmeg. Set this mixture aside for use later.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, milk, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), melted and cooled butter, and pure vanilla extract until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the donuts tender.
  5. Fill the donut pans: Transfer the batter into a piping bag or a ziplock bag with a corner snipped off. Pipe the batter evenly into the prepared donut pans, filling each cavity about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
  6. Bake the donuts: Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 13 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let the donuts sit in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  7. Prepare the strawberry glaze: Place the quartered strawberries in a food processor and blend until smooth to create a strawberry puree. Pour the puree into a small bowl.
  8. Mix glaze with powdered sugar: Add half of the powdered sugar to the strawberry puree and mix until combined. Gradually add the remaining powdered sugar, mixing thoroughly. The mixture should be thick before adding milk.
  9. Adjust glaze consistency: Add milk to the glaze mixture and stir until the glaze is thin enough to coat the donuts but thick enough to stay on without running off completely. If the glaze is too thin, add more powdered sugar to thicken.
  10. Glaze the donuts: Dip the cooled donuts into the strawberry glaze, ensuring an even coating. Place the glazed donuts back on the cooling rack and allow the glaze to dry and set before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure all wet ingredients are at room temperature for best mixing results.
  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid dense donuts.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, you can spoon the batter carefully into the donut pans.
  • The glaze consistency can be adjusted with more powdered sugar or milk depending on your preference.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
