Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon paste
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: Place the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the meat, using a meat chopper or potato masher to break it into very small pieces. Continue cooking until the beef is fully browned and no pink remains.
  2. Add Seasonings and Simmer: Add the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, cumin, beef bouillon paste, tomato paste, granulated sugar, and water to the skillet with the browned beef. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  3. Cook Until Thickened: Bring the mixture to a simmer. Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring occasionally and breaking up the meat further if needed, until most of the liquid is absorbed and the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  4. Serve: Once the meat mixture has thickened, remove it from heat and use as desired for tacos, burritos, or nachos. Enjoy your flavorful Taco Bell style meat.

Notes

  • Using a meat chopper or potato masher helps achieve the signature small, crumbly texture of Taco Bell seasoned beef.
  • You can adjust the spice levels by increasing or decreasing chili powder and cumin according to taste.
  • For a lower fat option, use lean ground beef (90% lean or higher).
  • This meat mixture can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
  • All-purpose flour helps thicken the sauce; for gluten-free, substitute with cornstarch or a gluten-free flour blend.
