5.1 from 17 reviews

Yum Yum Sauce is a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet dipping sauce perfect for drizzling over grilled meats, seafood, vegetables, or serving as a flavorful dip. This easy-to-make sauce combines mayonnaise, ketchup, and spices with a hint of heat from cayenne and optional sriracha or gochujang, making it a versatile condiment loved in many cuisines.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 Cup Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Melted Butter

Seasonings

  • 1 Tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (adjust to taste)

Additional

  • 1/4 Cup Water (more or less for desired consistency)
  • Sriracha or Gochujang Sauce (optional, for added spiciness)

Instructions

  1. Combine the Base Ingredients: In a medium glass bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, and melted butter. This ensures the butter is fully incorporated before it cools and solidifies.
  2. Add the Seasonings: Stir in the granulated sugar, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors evenly.
  3. Adjust Consistency: Pour in 1/4 cup of water and mix thoroughly. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more water until you reach your preferred consistency. If it becomes too thin, you can add more mayonnaise and ketchup to thicken it back up.
  4. Optional Spice Addition: For extra heat, mix in sriracha or gochujang sauce according to your taste preferences.
  5. Chill and Serve: The sauce can be used immediately, but it’s best if chilled in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together. Before serving, give it a good stir.

Notes

  • The amount of cayenne pepper can be adjusted according to your spice tolerance.
  • Using melted butter instead of cold butter ensures a smooth texture.
  • Water quantity can be modified to make the sauce thinner or thicker depending on your use.
  • Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Sriracha or gochujang are optional but add a nice spicy depth to the sauce.
